Treasury Tuesday – Snow Kissed Dreamland

Cold and calm January. One week in and still no snow here. Luckily, I spent the holidays with my sister in Ohio and we got snow nearly every day we were there. Big fat flakes drifting down to coat the earth. Especially at night, it can feel like a dreamland full of frosted fairies and white clad sleeping creatures. This treasury, curated by Jane of The Felt Boutique, is a perfect capture of this winter wonderland. Beautifully eerie in a soft, dark way. My Edwardian button ring, "Under an Autumn Sunset", got to play a role in this grouping and is a nice balance of warm with the many snowy pieces surrounding. The art photo above my ring is just one of the most beautiful images I've seen.

Sunday Snag – Autumn & Winter Snags: Part Two

Outfit #8 of My Vintage Autumn Recap #vintage #fashion #1940s #style #dress

Time for round two in the autumn/winter fashion recap! Something I noticed from Part One (see here) is that it has a slightly darker color tone. Not in the clothes necessarily but in the light. I couldn't at first think why that was but it was rather obvious. The farther into autumn, the less leaves on the trees to add shade to the photos. I kinda loved this because even though the air was getting brisker and colder, the photos were coming out warmer. Fun to see the change in each photograph. It's also quite a learning experience as I've never taken photos like these before this last year. Every photo-shoot is a "keep your fingers crossed that something works" experiment.

Like last week, I would love to hear your thoughts and favorites! Seriously, you shy little birds. Everyone was sharing such sweet comments about loving all of them and I truly appreciate and adore you for that. But I'm very interested in your, shall we say, specific thoughts. Don't you worry your pretty little heads about somehow accidentally offending me. Believe you me, that is hard to do!

Saturday Shop Talk – House of Athena

House of Athena Bracelet #antique #greek #jewelry #athena
Personality: The Wise and Just
Places you'll find yourself: Making clear and fair decisions in even the most challenging of situations
Antique Greek Jewelry #antique #bracelet #greek #1800s

I shared in one of my previous Sunday Snags that I started making bracelets for the first time. I hadn't done this previously because I wanted to come up with a way to make them easily adjustable. I have thin wrists and can never seem to find bracelets that fit without falling off. I know others have the opposite problem as well and don't want to be pinched by a tight bracelet. Well I found a solution that I'm happy with, so my bracelet line has been launched!

This particular bracelet I'm sharing today is such an interesting piece! It is made with an antique button, reference title Greek Temple on the Acropolis, and it's dated from between 1880 and 1899. It shows a depiction, in incredible detail, of the Parthenon, temple to the goddess Athena. The scene is done in a silver/white metal and is surrounded by a brass border. The button is set on a brass charm and connected with a delicate chain that comes in your choice of lengths and a lobster claw at each end for easy adjustability!

Friday Photo Swoon – Take My Hand

Bebe Daniels with killer gloves ~ 1920s #vintage #fashion #1920s #style #gloves
Look at those side cut outs!

Recently I've been picking up vintage gloves here and there. I've shared two with you so far (wrist length, ivory deerskin here and elbow length black here). Gloves have posed a styling challenge for me. That said, they've created an increasing interest as well. I think they're difficult to style because it is part of a lost accessory in the modern world. There are not many people that wear gloves anymore (besides winter gloves). Along with hats, they seem to have unfortunately fallen by the wayside of time and convenience. I very much understand this but it's a shame that we don't at least wear them sporadically. They are such a "finisher" of an outfit. Icing on the cake really. Below is some inspiration, for both you and me, on ways to style gloves. Some are even in color (which I found very helpful in this instance). Do you wear gloves? Any tips on how you style them?
