Thursday Thrill – Vintage in Cleveland: Part One

Vintage in Cleveland #vintage #cleveland

I had the pleasure of going to a few vintage shops while I was in Cleveland over the holidays with my sister. I thought I might share two of the places I got to visit and the first, today, is Deering Vintage. It was bitingly cold the day we visited, so I was all too glad to browse around the shop and take photos.

This is a lovely shop! Sometimes these places can get near claustrophobic with the amount of things stuffed in the space, but this was not the case here. The owner, Cynthia, has done a great job at making it quite breathable and easy to take in with her arrangement of everything. The space has beautiful high ceilings and a large store front window which really helps too. There were goodies everywhere! There were items new and old as well so you might find vintage jewelry next to modern pieces. She had accessories galore, racks of winterwear (seems appropriate for the setting and season), and fun and lovely surprises like mid century decor and sewing patterns. I picked myself up a cute as pie cherry hat from the 1950s and a pair of men's suspenders that I will be wearing myself someday.

Treasury Tuesday – Art Deco Wedding

Oh I'm so excited about this one!! Dawn Marie, from Sightly, has curated a very special treasury. She has gathered together items under the delicious theme of an Art Deco wedding!! This makes me want to get married all over again or at least throw a big bash! My hair clip, "April in Paris", got the lucky chance to be featured along with some lovely Deco beauties. I especially love those 1930s green glass hat pins!

Sunday Snag – Steal My Cape

How to style a vintage cape #vintage #styling #tips #fashion

Last Sunday I brought you the first of a Steal My Snag series that will be taking the place of regular outfit posts until the weather warms a bit and I can get outside. The first look I helped you steal was my "Picking Pansies" retro sweater (see here). Today I'll be helping you steal my "Fox & The Houndstooth" look with an emphasis on my 1960s cape. Mine is a black and white knee length houndstooth in a wool/acrylic blend. It is lined in cherry red with a mandarin style collar and large woven frog closures to the waist. See the original post with all my outfit details here. Below is a sampling of different cape styles to help you recreate my look or inspiration to create your own.
