Wistful Wednesday – Winter Blues

Vintage Beachwear ~ Photo by Tom Palumbo #vintage #beachwear #blue #ocean #swimwear

Wouldn't the scene above be a refreshing blue to see right now? Ahhhhh, warm sand, crashing waves, bright blue sky for days. Yes, looking forward to that. For now, the cold but still beautiful blue of winter is all around me. At least all the ladies below look toasty warm in their winter blues.

Treasury Tuesday – Lavender Snowfall

Winter sure has been odd this year. Last week, with that cold blast that was felt by the most of the country, I thought we might just get some snow. But only a few days later it was nearly 70 degrees! Ah wells, I'll have to stick to dreaming of snowy days. This treasury, curated by Flora of Fab Vintage 1, might just help me along in my wintery daydreaming. A frosty mix of purples featuring warm scarves, capes, corduroys, and even my glass centered hair flower "Picked Me a Plum".

Sunday Snag – Steal My Snag!

 Retro Styling Tips #retro #fashion #style #vintage #1950s #1960s

Today I'm starting a short series within my normal Sunday Snags where because I'm entirely too cold to go outside and because my itty bitty apartment space can't accommodate photoshoots I'll be sharing ways to steal my snags! Did you get all that?! Haha! Basically, my toes are just too chilly to do outfit posts at the present. There have been some favorite Snags (based upon comments and my own personal faves) that I thought you might like for yourself! So I'm bringing you a way to steal the look or at least the main part of the look. For the first round, I'm bringing you options to recreate my "Picking Pansies" look that I styled earlier in the autumn (see entire post here). The main star of the show was my 1960s cardigan sweater with a distinctly retro styling. I thought this may be a good place to start seeing as many of you already have jeans to pair with a cute cardi.

You can click on any of the photos below to be taken to the shop selling the item.

 Cropped Knits
These two have that cute and flirty feel like mine but with longer sleeves which is perfect for the colder weather right now.

Grandpa Length and Grandma Chic
The one on the left is for those that can't do the cropped length. On the right is a medium length with cute crochet work on the bust (great for small busts as it adds dimension).

Don't Want Red?
Here is a sunny yellow that is remarkably close to my red version.

Friday Photo Tip – Introducing...

Vintage Styling #1940s #vintage #styleVintage Blog #vintage #blog #chatterblossom
Caramel Coated Autumn                                                     Kimono's Day Out

Friday Photo Tip!! Fridays were previously a series of posts featuring themed vintage photographs. That segment has been switched to Wednesday under the name "Wistful Wednesday".

I wanted to start a series where I share tips and tricks that I use for photography. I get a lot of questions and comments about my photography and how I take shots, which camera I use, styling, etc. and I thought it might be helpful and fun do one photo tip a week. Disclaimer: I'm not a professional. I just like taking photos. I'm not claiming that I know everything about how to do this. Quite the contrary. I've just learned as I went along, so I figure tips might be helpful coming from a regular non-professional person. You know, just an average gal who is giving it her best attempt and learning from mistakes (many many many mistakes).

Whatcha think? Is this something you all would be interested in? Are there any tips you'd like to see or any questions you want to ask so that I can include them in a future post? I plan on doing posts about the equipment I use, locations I shoot in, body positioning tips, editing processes, photogenic myths, and just general tricks I use to get a shot I'm happy to share with you all. And by all means, you will be more than welcome to give and share your tips with me and others too!! This is a learning process and any tricks you all have would be most welcome!! :-)

Please please please voice your questions on this!!! I need some direction and would love to be able to start opening up a helpful forum for photography/styling!
