Treasury Tuesday – Earth in Bloom

Yesterday was Earth Day and I hope you all celebrated in some small way (at least by going outside for a quick breath of fresh air before returning to the grind!). 

Last week's treasury was the first of a three part tribute to the Earth and all her loveliness. Today, I'm sharing with you part two: Earth in Bloom. This lush, green treasury was created by Maria of Masha Crochet and she made an absolutely perfect ode to growth and life. Some of my fav's in the bunch are the bird's nest brooch, the scarves, and the paper pendants full of spring flowers. My little green button earrings, "Double Mint", also got to join the earthy party! What's your favorite item?

The Sunday Snag - Lounge About Town

This was an unusual purchase for me. I have never owned a vintage undergarment, slip, pj's, etc. (now I have two!). This was my first dive into that world of which I know very little about. I knew I wanted a slip (more on that in a future post), but I came across this lounge top and thought, "Yes, I will take that, please." I think it was the peachy color and the silky look. It seemed like a small luxury that I could A. afford and B. get out of sweats for. Ladies back in the day seemed pretty classy even in pj's and I wanted to give that a try. 

I purchased this beautiful 1930's pajama top from The Slipperie (there are so many pieces I wanted from that little shop! Especially a few pairs of tap shorts/knickers...someday). It is made from rayon so it is slick and shiny and has square patterned lace around the neck and across the bust. There was some minor foxing (a term I didn't know until recently meaning small rust stains or oxidation), but I didn't mind. It is over 70 years old after all! 

I actually might wear this as a top. It is loose and blousey and might work well tucked into high waist pants, jeans, and pencil skirts. A bit daring for the 1930s, but would be rather cute today!

Saturday Shop Talk – Daisy Jane

Aren't these darling?! I was so excited to find these little vintage buttons! They were all off of one garment (wouldn't that be fun!) and appear to be a type of early plastic (possibly lucite?). They each depict a basket of three daisy flowers each with a small gem center. I decided to make them into pendants because they just seemed destined to be near the heart of some lovely gals. Wouldn't these be the cutest gifts for a bridesmaid brunch or girl's day out?! 

There are five different colors: Yellow, Orange, Ivory, Pale Green, and Blue (which was snatched up the very day I added it to the shop!). Which color do you like most?

Friday Photo Swoon – La Chaise

Lovely no? This lounging beauty is another find from pinterest with no credit (someday I'll find a photo or two that I know something about!). From the look of her delicate undergarment I would say this is late 1800s, but help me out if you see any tell tale sign of a specific time period. Wow, even as I type, I can't help but look up again and again at her. Those eyes. Her skin. What a dream.
