Makeover Monday – Vintage Head Scarf Tutorial

Hello Lovelies! I don't usually have a Monday post, but after a recent outfit post where I featured a scarf wrap (see here) I got questions from a few of you on how I tied my head scarf. Well wish granted! I made my very first tutorial just for you!

How to Tie a Vintage Style Head Scarf Bow:

- I have my hair in a pin curl setting, but you could just as easily have your hair pulled back in a flat bun and leave your bangs out.
- My scarf is a sheer raw silk in a long rectangular shape (60"x18")

Drape the scarf over your head just behind your bangs (or whatever hair you want exposed).

Grab one side of the scarf in each hand and pull taut.

Move your hands up to the base of your head still holding the scarf taut and making sure all hair is covered at the bottom

Cross the two ends of the scarf.

  10. Thank you so much for the tutorial Jamie. I sure wish I would've known you while I was going through chemo. Being bald Sucks when you are a girlie girl but I made the best of it tying my scarves up fancifully. I would def give this one a try. It is too cute doll. Thanx again lovely! Xo

  11. What are the dimensions of your scarf? I am just starting my chemo treatment and am trying to get ideas for when the hair starts falling out. Thank you!

    1. Oh goodness! I wish you so much strength and health in your treatments. I don't have my scarf with me right now, but as soon as I do (in about a week), I will put the dimensions up for you. Good luck!!

    2. Okay, I'm finally home and got the measurements for you! The scarf is a raw silk and is approximately 60" long and 18" wide. Hope this helps!

    1. I tied the bow just like tying shoe laces. No tricks, just a regular old bow. But I did pull fluff out the bow ends after to make it bigger. Hope that helps! :-)
