I've been on a 20s kick in the shop lately. After seeing The Great Gatsby and being generally wooed by the freedom and abandon of the Flapper age, I couldn't help but get the 1920s bug in my system. I'm generally a 40s girl, but the Art Deco period is like the unicorn era. A flash of magic, stunned awe, and then poof, it's gone only to become legend.

I recently got my hands on some gorgeous antique half buckles and clasps. I wasn't sure how I would use them when I got them, but it wasn't long before the idea for headbands was hatched. I now have five made and in shop (see them here).

This particular one, the lovely "Geraldine", was made with an antique metal filigree buckle circa 1900 in the shape of a flower with a green glass stone center. The ribbon is a luscious moss green vintage Swiss velvet from the early 1930s that ties in back. Whoever purchases this beauty can choose with or without accent feathers in earthy brown and ivory tones.

It's quite nice because you can wear it both in a flapper style across the forehead or as a traditional headband. I imagine it would look quite lovely woven into an updo too.

  2. So splendidly lovely! Green is my colour of the year for 2013, so I'm especially smitten with the verdant tones you used in this instant heirloom of a handmade piece.
