Friday Photo Swoon – Scarved For Attention

1920s Gypsy Style #vintage #antique #1920s #gypsy

After yesterday's scarf tutorial (see here), I wanted to share some more inspiration with you! All of these lovely ladies are ready to give you some pretty unique ways of tying your scarf and their looks span more than 40s years. I especially love the wrapped, almost turban like scarf in the photo above!

Which do you prefer? Have you tried any of these looks before?

  4. I love how beautifully women tie their scarves. The sixth picture shows how my mother (and the gals of her era) did it. The second picture reminds of of Rhoda (a character from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" who had her own spinoff show, both in the Seventies).

  7. Love scarfs! The first image of Gloria Swanson is my favorite. Such an iconic photograph. It's hard to believe it is from the 20s.

  14. I used to wear a head scarf tied under my chin (as in the last picture) when I cycled to work. This was back in the 60s when I was working in a haberdashery and gent’s outfitters, wonderfully happy days! The haberdashery dept also sold women’s clothes, and that was where I spent all my wages. We were allowed to put items ‘on hold’ and pay them off weekly – the trouble was you would end up finally owning a spring outfit in the middle of winter!

  15. Puntastically marvelous title, dear gal - followed by an equally awesome post. Headscarves have long been, and likely always will be, one of my very favourite accessories. I wore them a lot in particular before transitioning to a wig, and a tons since, because they - like most hair accessories - really help a wig look more like it's your real hair.
