Thursday Thrill – Wrapped and Ready

50s high waist plaid shorts and head scarf1950s high waist plaid shorts and scarf on ChatterBlossom

These photos were shot during date week right before we jumped in the car to head towards our B&B adventure. I had my hair up in pin curls that morning in anticipation of that night's Bucket List Outfit. You can't go around in public with a pin curl setting so I had to figure out a way to make a look work with them. I decided to grab my 50s high waist shorts (seen here on a Sunday Snag) and pair it with a v-neck knit top in blue. I just wrapped my hair up in a red/gold print silk scarf and headed out the door with hubs and luggage in tow. They had bicycles at the B&B that we got to use and ride around the grounds a bit. This outfit was perfect for a bit of sight seeing on bike!

Treasury Tuesday – Sunshine Horizon

Mid-June now and the temps are rising. Warm air and sun soaked days are becoming more constant. I must say, I welcome it most heartily! I love love love the hotter months. I love getting outside and having my skin instantly hugged in sunshine.

Today's treasury is meant to warm you up too! These beautiful travel items and accessories for enjoying summer days were curated by Stefania of Djemila Design. I particularly love the 80s striped shirt and luggage photograph. My pastel shell earrings, "Soft as the Shoreline" also got to join this caravan of travelers!

The Sunday Snag – When Winter Comes 'Round

1960s houndstooth cape

I know, I know, it's just now toasty warm outside. Why on Earth am I doing a winter time snag?! Well, because it's the perfect time to find some great deals on coats and winter gear now that the hungry shoppers have forgotten all about these pieces for swimsuits and sunglasses.

I snatched up this whimsical piece from Vacation Vintage. Truth be told, I was a little gun shy with this piece. It is a 1960s cape. A cape, you say?! Yes! I have never dreamed of owning a cape before and something about this one seemed like someone should be wearing it in a murder mystery set in Scotland. I'm usually pretty practical and when I saw this I thought, "Can I really get away with this?". And then the part of me I like screamed, "Who the hell cares!".

The cape is a classic houndstooth pattern in black and white. I wish it were wool, but I believe it's a man-made mix (alas, the 60's). The collar is a crisp mandarin with three giant black frog closures down the center. Best part? It's lined in red! How fun is that?! Am I totally going to be swishing my cape open to reveal that vampy piece of Dracula nonsense? You better believe it! I just need a pair of longer vintage black gloves, so that my arms don't get cold when I reach out my hand for passersby to kiss in admiration of my killer cape.

For now though, this beauty will be tucked away in the cedar chest until my dear Frost shows his face again...
