Treasury Tuesday – Queen of Summer

The warm, rich air of July equally soothes and excites me! I feel empowered, free, and a bit silly in my optimism when there are strings of sunny days. As soon as I saw this treasury, made by Maria of Almami, I felt that draw of summer's smiles upon me. There is such a careless romance about this collection. I really cannot tell you how much I love those stacking skinny rings too! I was glowing when I saw that my antique bamboo button ring, "Beijing Beauty", was included in this beautiful curation.

The Beach Beckons

The Sunday Snag – A Bit O' Green

Remember this snag? You can see the original post here. My sister gave this dress to me for Christmas this year and I've already worn it many, many times. This dress is perfect for swing dancing! I wore it one time to an afternoon tea with family, but every other time has been for dancing. It is just so light and easy to wear/move. The pattern also makes it ideal for hiding sweat (which is a big problem when dancing up a storm). Guys have it lucky. They can just pack an extra shirt to change into, but I can't bring a whole other outfit just because I sweat a little. 

This photo was snapped in my living room right before we headed out to dance on a Saturday night. The original belt was missing, so I added a modern, tan leather, skinny belt with cute gold studs. Because the dress pattern is so pronounced, I wore multiple hair flowers to bring attention back up to my face. These were ivory hydrangeas, each with a different vintage button center, one shell, one pearl, and one wooden.

Saturday Shop Talk – Daisy a Day

"Daisy a Day"

Personality: Consistent and Thoughtful
Places you'll find yourself: Placing flowers upon the doorsteps of friends and neighbors, just to be nice and brighten their day

This floral cocktail ring was made from an antique button (title: Daisies, circa late 1800s). I was actually quite excited to have found this button in The Big Book of Buttons which helped me accurately date and label it. The button is gorgeous with a striated background, topped with a beadwork like flower in brass.

Friday Photo Swoon – Road Trip!

Mid-July, what to do, what to do? I know, road trip!! Summer break allows many of us ample time to get out on the road and explore the sights, be it with family, friends, or maybe a girls' only weekend! The photo directly below makes me want to grab some girlfriends and head out the door!

Do you take road trip vacations? I never really have before. We usually travel to see family or fly to some far away land for vacation. The hubs and I have never set off on a road trip, but we may need to try that sometime! Driving along a coastline or through national parks or maybe vineyards sounds pretty wonderful to me!
