Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal

Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font;
The firefly wakens, waken thou with me.

Now droops the milk-white peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Danae to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts, in me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake.
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson

  6. Love the splashes of red, especially the cardinals. I had two cardinals in my tree last winter. I wish my picture came out as beautiful as that one did. That's framable!

  16. Wow, these are some great shots, the first one reminding me of the Robin Red Breast who likes looking at himself in my son's side view mirror. He has to cover it all spring otherwise he is washing off bird poop for an overly excited, yet conceited bird!

  23. Oh how I adore this marvelously lovely post! I've long been a fan of Austrian fruit brooches, but it wasn't until late last year that I finally decided to splurge and buy myself a couple (including a cherry one that's extremely similar to one you posted here). I'm now hooked (big time) and will be scouring the web high and low from here on out trying to find bargain on others to add to my budding collection.

    Wishing you a beautiful Friday, dear Jamie!
