Thursday Thrill - May Day

early 1900s vintage postcard with lovely ladies with flowers in spring
Victorian May Day Postcard from Pecan Hill Antiques
Happy May Day to you all!!
Technically, it was yesterday, but not to worry, May Day isn't going to mind if we continue the celebration a bit.

Do any of you celebrate? When I was a little girl, we would decorate little May Day baskets and fill them with tiny candies and toys. Then we would sneak over to our neighbors houses and quietly leave them on their doorsteps for a special surprise. I loved it! This quirky tradition has died out in recent years and I'm quite sad. I love random holidays were you get surprise candy! Plus, it's a good excuse to get out in the early morning sunshine and start the day in a pleasant mood.

All the featured items below would make for the most delightful May Day, would they not?

  1. Kind of makes me sad that May Day is not really celebrated anymore. I've never kept the tradition alive, and I think my goal for next year will be to revive it! Also, is that your wall with the dog picture? I just love it. :)

  11. I was talking about May Day in my post yesterday and remembering how when I was at school we were taught to maypole dance! My children (of course) were horrified by the very idea!

Happy May Day (albeit a bit belated).
