Plaid. Seems to my best friend lately. I don't think I ever would have said, "Why yes, I love plaid", but based upon my recent purchases, I most certainly do! I had always associated plaid with oversized grunge because I grew up in the '90s. Yes, it was cool then and made you feel tough, but I had never used plaid to look feminine or stylish until recently. But, as with most clothing, the 1940s/50s did it well in my opinion. And often, apparently! I feel like you couldn't shake a stick at a vintage clothing store without hitting at least a few plaid pieces. Same goes for my closet now. You've seen my most recent plaid outfit (which I lurv!) and on this week's Sunday Snag, you'll see a second!
Last Week's Friday Photo Swoon:
That little girl with the umbrella just stole my heart!! Awesome pictures. I do like plaid, but I own nothing of the sort. Might have to remedy that soon.

I love plaid too! :) And I really loved all these awesome pictures! I wish you a great Friday, dear Jamie!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of plaid (or tartan as I would call it), and have several (more than are really necessary)skirts, which I just love.

I truly adore this pattern. I have for basically ever. I have a coat in this print and it is one of my favourites, I am also looking for a dress with this pattern.

Plaid has many cultural references. Being a youngster, you associate it with a resurgence it had in the Nineties (usually worn ironically). Being older, I remember it from its popularity in the Fifties when it was worn with sincerity. On its own, plaid can be beautiful, as these adorable pictures demonstrate.
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration images of plaid. I associate plaid with the fall and love this pattern very much. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteLove it, it's still my favourite pattern! I would dearly love a few of these beauties in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the 50s and 60s, so I grew up with plaid. Grew up with it, have always loved it, and love it still!
ReplyDeleteLook at how tiny their waists were!

Ah yes, Plaid – I remember it well! I used to love my plaid coat it was double breasted and fastened with a wide belt – I felt like the bee's knees when I was wearing it. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures ... I don't wear plaid myself but I know that it looks good on some people.
ReplyDeleteI love the little girl and the umbrella picture.
I've been thinking about you and hoping your hubby is recovering well.

Thanks for your well wishes my dear! I'll hopefully do an update post on the accident in a couple of weeks. He is doing well though! ;-)
DeleteGorgeous pictures! I was going to say "I especially love this one" but I like them all so that would be a huge comment. I don't think plaid was ever one of my favourites in the past, but it is definitely growing on me lately.
ReplyDeleteThose plaid gloves! Amazing! It's great to see plaid back in classic silhouettes
