Treasury Tuesday – December's Last Breath

Well this is it, ladies and gentlemen, the end of December and the end of another year. I don't know about all of you, but I thoroughly enjoyed 2013 and hope the new year is half as good as this one! I had my 10 year anniversary, turned 31 years old, celebrated my first full year as ChatterBlossom with my shop and blog, and saw the first year of my vintage fashion fling bloom into a full blown love affair. December was just grand with holidays and time with family and I'm ready to welcome in January tomorrow.

This treasury is an official send off for December, the month of turquoise. Cristina, from Lettera p Sy, curated this lovely grouping of pretty bits of turquoise and blue daisies. My wee blue daisy hair pin, "Blue Skies", even got to be at the top with that lovely 1950s ceramic lady! To me, the simple beauty of this collection seemed perfectly suited to give the farewell to 2013.

Sunday Snag – Autumn & Winter Snags: Part One

Outfit #1 of My Vintage Autumn Recap #vintage #fashion #1940s #plaid

Can you believe it?! This year is already coming to a close! I usually get stuck in time somewhere back in September and it's always a shock to see the new year come so quickly. Back in August I did a recap series of all the vintage outfits I wore during the summer months (see Part One here and Part Two here). Now it's time to share a recap of the cooler months! I really enjoy looking back to see how my style and tastes change and remembering how I felt when I wore each outfit. These clothes are so special to me and I love that new memories are being added to their already long history. Once again I'm sharing it in two parts so as not to overload you with photos.

I would love to get your thoughts on which outfits or pieces are your favorites and why. I love hearing which details and aspects of an ensemble catch your attention and tug at your heartstrings.

You can view the entire post of any outfit by clicking on the titles.

Saturday Shop Talk – The Divine Sarah

Antique Cameo Ring #bernhardt #jewelry #antique #ring

Personality: The Larger than Life
Places you'll find yourself: Capturing the hearts and captivating the souls of all who see you

Antique Sarah Bernhardt Ring #antique #ring #theatre #jewelry
This piece is one of my more unusual I think. Or at least it's more specific anyway. I made this ring from an antique button (which is what my shop is best known for), but typically the buttons are more general in their designs. Things like flowers and birds tend to be the most common designs in antique buttons. However, this button is definitely an exception. This one is of a specific person who actually lived during the time the button would have been made. The cameo is of Sarah Bernhardt, a renowned theater actress in France during the Belle Epoque. It's funny to think of it this way, but I imagine having your face on a button would be somewhat akin to having a celebrity's face on a t-shirt now. She was known the world over and would have been a recognizable figure among theatre lovers at that time (late 1800s). The button itself is beautiful. It was created in the late 1800s/early 1900s with a brass bust atop a deep navy blue tinting.

The New Year is almost here! Any one have any plans for the Eve? I've never really done resolutions, but I do try to do something with family and friends each year. This year my sister and her husband are taking me and the hubs out for a Christmas/Birthday/New Year's dinner at a nice restaurant! So excited! We do all three as me and my sister have birthdays over the holiday. I have a pretty little frock to wear too! Ooooh! 1950s silk party dress with gold heels!

Thursday Thrill – Guess Who's on Instagram?!

Sheer giddy delight! #vintage #photograph #laughter

It's me, it's me!!! And I'm so excited!! I have entered the 21st century for Christmas, folks! My sister gave me the gift of a smart phone and it is my very first one. The above photo is pretty much what I looked like when I got my gift! Sheer giddy delight! Now I just have to figure out how the heck to work the thing...

One of the first things I did though was to get my booty on over to instagram! I'm not usually too excited about tech stuff, but instagram is wonderful! Now I get to stalk all my favorite bloggers and vintage sellers/wearers/lovers! I only have a few photos up of my own so far but I would love for you to stalk me too! ;-)
